Rules And Information
Welcome to the Mike Nickols Golf League rules page.
1) Golfers sign up as individuals and will be assigned a partner for each week of the season. In the event of an odd number of golfers in the league, the "odd man out" each week will utilize "the field" as their partner.
-
League dues will be $100. Of this $49 will go towards season prize money. $20 towards mid season outing and $20 towards end of season outing. $11 goes towards the use of the GLS website.
If there is not a mid season and/or end of season outing, those funds will be applied towards the season prize money.
2) Each week consists of playing 9 holes on Monday, alternating between the front and back nine, at Bunn Golf course in Springfield.
-
In the event that a golfer is unable to play on a Monday, each scheduled week needs to be played in a 13-day window that begins the Tuesday before the scheduled round and ends the Sunday following the scheduled round.
-
While a golfer is assigned a partner each week, there is not a requirement that partners play their rounds together. However, every attempted should be made for rounds to be played with another golfer in the league.
3) The league will start with a "Handicap" week on the first Monday in April, in which only Stableford scoring will be counted. The league will continue through the last Monday in August with each of these weeks utilizing both Team and Stableford scoring.
-
The league will not play on any day that Monday is a holiday. For example, no league games will be held on Memorial Day.
4) Golfers have two methods to utilize to submit the scores for the round. First (preferred method), is for the golfer to enter the round directly into the GLS app on their smart phones. Second, the score card may be uploaded to the group Messenger "Golf Scores Only" chat and the league administrator will enter the round into the GLS.
5) Each week will consist of scores being utilized in two different fashions.
-
1) A team Leader Board will be calculated utilizing each golfer's net score added to their partners net score to determine their weekly team score. In the event of an odd number of golfers, the golfer without a partner will utilize the average score of all golfers for that week with the net score being determined by utilizing the leagues average handicap.
-
2) Each individual golfer will be awarded Stableford points based on their gross score. 1 point awarded for a Bogey, 2 points for a par, 3 points for a birdie, 4 points for an eagle, 5 points for an albatross.
6) At the end of the season, league prizes will be determined in 3 different fashions.
-
1) Each week the lowest team net score will receive $20 total ($10/person)
-
2) The three golfers with the lowest gross rounds will be awarded $50 each. If a golfer has multiple rounds with the lowest gross they will only receive $50. Three different golfers will receive $50.
-
3) At the end of the year, the total Stableford points standings will be utilized to award the remainder of the prize money. Prize money will be award to top 50% of golfers.
7) Golfers that are caught submitting rounds that were not actually played, will be removed from the league without reimbursement of any league dues.
